view of our Christmas light display

December 28, 2006 - Our total Christmas light count was 26,200 lights, about 90% or more were LEDs.

December 20, 2006 - The Fort Lauderdale Sun-Sentinel featured our lighting display in it's tour of Christmas light homes, we got the biggest photo there, and that has attracted a good stream of visitors for us between 7pm and 9PM, many of who bring food and donations for our Church collection box on display. Our system is now up to 22,911 lights as of today. The Mega tree with all it's accessory lighting now has 6300 lights according to my spreadsheet.

December 12, 2006 - Our 12 foot tall LED Megatree is now completed finally! What a pain it was stringing those lights. There are so far 5280 LEDs on the Mega tree, plus a new 25 foot ultra white LED rope light wrapped around the girth, not shown in the photos below, as it was installed after the pictures were taken. Now I can start sequencing. I better motor, my goal is a half dozen songs on 80 channels by this Saturday. On the 17th, The Sun-Sentinel is publishing the houses they recommend gawk ers to visit, and mine is one of them, so I better be ready!

December 7, 2006 - Our 12 foot tall Christmas LED Megatree in the front yard is nearing completion. What you see on this photo are 3600 LED Christmas lights in white, red, and green. The blue lights will be installed today, and when it's complete it will have over 4800 LED christmas lights on it. The Sun-Sentinel came by on December 5 to take pictures of our display. Earlier in the day they called to interview me about LED Christmas lights, how it affects the power bill, and I told them about our 80 channel lighting control system, and how the lights will dance to the music and the music will be broadcast to your car radio.

December 4, 2006 - I was up until 2:00 AM last night stringing more lights, and taking photos and videos. The roof has about $300 worth of those high end expensive whiter than white LED rope light snowflakes. Below are some shots, daylight on the left, same view at night time on the right. My current spreadsheet shows our light count at 19,000 lights, 90% of them being LEDs. Only a few incandescant rope light items are displayed on the lawn. All borders and roof rope lights are done with LED rope lights, very expensive this year! The photos only show 5 mini LED trees along the street, but there will be 8 by this weekend. My 5th Lightorama controller will be here Friday, so by this weekend, all lights should be dancing to christmas music, and broadcast through our mini FM radio transmitter so you can hear the music on your car radio as you drive by and watch the lights dance to it.

The 12 foot tall LED Mega Tree in the front yard is almost complete and will house at least 4800 LEDs: 1200 white, 1200 red, 1200 green, and 1200 blue LEDs. They will be assigned 48 channels of control on the lighting controller, so you can bet this tree will be dancing up a storm to the music. Disney's Osborne lights has nothing on us! Tee huge Santa's Workshop banner on our garage door is a real hit with people who drive by.

November 17 - Today We installed our new awesome Santa's Workshop garage door Christmas decoration. This is an awesome mural printed on a sheet of thin vinyl 16' x 7', the standard dimensions for a 2 car garage. You drive by our house and it looks like santa's Workshop is in full operation. I added the lights around the perimeter. The lights ar made of a 30' garland with 300 blue sphere LEDs from Target, and a couple of strings of grape cluster lights that I bought at Costco for Christmas in 2004. Also shown below is the PVC skeleton structure for our Megatree which I built over the last 2 days. It's 10 feet tall so far, and I have not yet attached the bun with all the hooks to wrap nth delighting. Also on top later on will be my custom made triple star, made from white LED rope light. It will use up 3 channels of lighting on my Light-O-Rama lighting controller. With 3 stars, I'll be able to make it look like it's a rotating star. Click photos for high resolution views.
