I agree wholeheartedly! I met Craig years ago when he was working on Dead Sea Scroll material. Not only is he incredibly intelligent, but he also has a pure desire to seek truth.

I think BAR knew exactly what they were doing. Look at all the responses. Nothing like stirring the pot. Politicians do this all the time. Hard up for news? BAR is scraping the barrel, but they need to pay their people. Cannot fault them for that. Plus, they got us thinking and responding. Thank you, BAR.

Interesting observation. Perhaps that is why Jesus sends this man to the priests. Did he do that because they were the ones who sent this sick (unclean) man to test Jesus. Horribly insensitive of leaders to use someone in pain in their plan to kill Jesus, but Jesus knew their hearts had been seared (hardened) for a long time. This makes the fact that Jesus TOUCHED the man even more significant.

Jesus was fully human and fully divine. The Scriptures point out both. Jesus, as God, came in the flesh to identify with His creation. The Fall, evil in the world, is not of God’s making. As God why doesn’t he get rid of evil? Evidently, God is using that for His purpose as well.

The responses do not reflect critical thinking or researched evidence-based knowledge!! My advice to those who made these responses is do your research outside of any religious learning you have received. Read books written by Bart Ehrman, James Tabor, Dominic Croissant, Elaine Pagels, and Margaret Starbird with an open mind and then think seriously about what you have read!!! These are only a few of the many authors who have written critical studies of the Bible.

Recently I found in genealogical research a ridiculous mistake made by an “archivist” who did not understand Venetian Italian. The person did not understand the word for “also called” and then did not read correctly the handwriting of one letter, and so changed totally a family name to one that did not even exist in Venice in 1500 A.D. Thus can you imagine the mistakes that could be made by a “translator” who mistakes (perhaps bad eyesight?) a letter or word or context? It must happen all the time. And with such very old texts I would think it happens far more than we realize.

I don’t think the Lord would have been indignant or angry about this violation of the Torah, due, to this man’s suffering, however, I do think it is possible He would have been displeased over the effect this man’s subsequent actions were going to have, i.e. the Lord would no longer be able to openly minister in the city. Having perfected prophetic powers the Lord could foresee exactly what would happen and He warned the man sternly not to broadcast the healing.

One clearly reads:

You have a gift from God for discerning His word. I have to agree with both comments to you from Amy and Trevor. Thank you . I also found it hard to read the word ” anger ” from Jesus in this verse when compassion and empathy were the words i was thinking more fitting from my Lord and Saviour JESUS. Jesus came for the sick and the outcasts. I do believe Jesus ‘ s anger at hearing this leper ‘ s request in this way “if you are willing to make me clean, you can do it.” He had great faith but was segregated from worshiping the God of Israel by officials of the Temple .
