Animated Christmas Lighting Display Advice, Photos, Video
I invented a new sport! Christmas Ornament Baseball! It was January 5, and we were
taking down my huge LED Christmas light display. I've got 5 local teens on the clock at $10 an hour helping me, and it starts to pour down rain, after almost 3 weeks with no rain! This shut us down a while.
So while waiting for the lights to dry off a bit, we decided to play Christmas ornament baseball with an 18" jumbo ornament that I was about to retire. The video below shows it ended with smashing results! See our huge megatree in the background with 13,600 LED Christmas lights.

Blue Nile river of blue LED Christmas lights on driveway
Click photo at left to super size it. I made this Blue Nile river on my driveway with LED net lights, and LED Christmas light strings. I still park our cars to on the driveway.
The Blue Nile uses a 30 foot blue LED rope light, and six 4'x4' 90 count blue LED net lights from Target. For some accent effects, I added a string of blue 60 count ultra mini LEDs from Sam's Club, and a string of 25 C7 blue LEDs from Lowe's, and several others.
Total Lights on our Blue Nile:
1140 lights!
Our Christmas Display System Specs:
Our display of Christmas lights is 100% LED for 2007, and synchronized to music with 112 channels of lighting, and transmitted to your car's FM radio on FM 100.9, up to 200 feet from the house. The Mega tree has over 13,600 lights on it. Our 2 larger leaping lights arches have 2650 LEDs each, and the 2 smaller arches have 1600 LEDs each. The 8 mini trees have 300 white and 300 blue LEDs.

Our Florida Power & Light Electric Bill for December, 2007; Saved 400 KWh with 100% LED Christmas Lights
I finally got my final FPL electric bill for December 2007, only $281, only $42 more than November. Compare that to August, 2007, our hottest month, my bill was $351.
In 2007 I almost doubled the number of lights, but now they are 100% LED, and for December I used only
2290 KWH.
LED Christmas lights really do save energy. We used 2902 KWH in 2006, and 3387 KWH for December 2005.
Our lights came down on January 6. We like to give folks who were out of town a chance to get back home and see our lights. Thanks to all who left food and cash donations for our church First Presbyterian Church of Margate/Coral Springs. We raised $512 in cash earmarked to the church ministries, and over 95 items of food.
